Will the Bimi-Tee
Top fit my center console?
Yes. Depending on size one of the Bimi-Tee Top models will fit your center console
perfectly.
Use the Top Selector, then check the Illustrated
Installation Overview.
How fast will it go?
Although it is not designed for racing,
the Bimi-Tee Top™ will
run without problems at any normal speeds on the water. We
tested it up to 70 MPH.
Can I install the Bimi-Tee Top myself?
Yes. The Bimi-Tee Top™ is
designed for do it yourself installation. Although the
actual instructions are more detailed, check out the Illustrated
Installation Overview. We answer questions 7
days a week, at 888.251.5911 ext 8867 or 813.240.1617, in case
you need help.
How does it detach?
You pull the lock pins and the upper part of the frame lifts
straight up and detaches.
See Detaching
The Top
Since the Bimi-Tee is light enough to detach, how does
it hold up to at high speeds?
We've never had a top fail. However, if you drive
into bridges, trees and houses you can bend the frame. The frame
design is based on tested architectural engineering principles
and the Bimi-Tee Vertical Supports are heavy walled and double
cored, ( one pipe inside the other ), so that the strength is
almost doubled to equal larger 1 ½ in. Pipe.
Can I stand on your top?
No, although the Vertical Support
System will hold the weight of two men, the cover frame is not designed
to carry a lot of weight other than the Cover and the Rod Holders.
I can just fit my boat under the
garage door, when the top is detached, what part of the top
will remain attached to the console and how high will that
part be? Will it fit under a boat cover?
When the upper part of the top
is detached, the base portions of the Vertical Supports
remain in place. The height of the base portions will
be 42 inches above the deck, a height well below most
hand rails. When detached, the top drops down and around
the console body to fit
under a standard boat cover.
Can the Bimi-Tee be adjusted for height?
Yes, the top normally installs at 6 ft.
6 inches without modification, however, it will install from 6
ft. to a height of 6 ft. 9 ½ inches.
See Adjusting
the Height
Do
I need to drill into my deck? How does it mount?
No holes in the deck, the Bimi-Tee
Top™ mounts
to your center console.
See Illustrated Installation Overview
Will
the Bimi-Tee Top stress my console or deck?
No. Our patented cover system
dissipates the forces created on the water and the covers zip
off, (See Zip
Cover ),
for highway towing. The Bimi-Tee Top™ will
not stress or harm a boat in any way.
Is any part of the Bimi-Tee Top
made of plastic, does it use plastic fittings?
No, the Bimi-Tee Top™ has
no plastic or plastic fittings. The stainless steel model is
all stainless steel, while the aluminum model uses annealed nylon
and nylon-graphite composite fittings that are black in color
and equal steel in strength. See Fittings
What if I need extra fittings or
screws?
Parts are always available for the
Bimi-Tee Top™. Taylor
Made Products offers great customer service.
Does the Bimi-Tee Top have a warranty?
Yes. The Bimi-Tee Top™ is warrantied
for 2 years, the cover is warrantied for 5 years.
Is the Bimi-Tee Top cover made of
canvas?
No. The cover is made of Ultima™ a
solution-dyed polyester, which sets the standard for marine applications
with its non-fade, non-stretch and non-leak performance.

If I damage my Bimi-Tee Top cover,
can I get a new one without replacing the whole top?
Yes, new Ultima™ covers
are only $79, $89 or $99 depending on size.
Can I tow my boat on the highway with the Bimi-Tee in
place, do I have to detach it?
When towing the whole Bimi-Tee frame stays up, the cover unzips
off the frame. See Zip
Cover
What else is different about the Bimi-Tee covers, how
do the covers work?
The Bimi-Tee
covers are not laced to the cover frame like
a conventional T Top. They are elastically stretched
over the cover frame. The elastic cover system
is designed to allow the cover to absorb extremes
in wind forces. In effect, the cover system acts
like a shock absorber and limits any stress on
the frame or the console. Consequently, the top
will not stress or damage any boat or console.
However, to eliminate the severe stresses of
highway towing and to allow the detached frame
to be easily stored onboard or under a boat cover,
you must unzip and remove the cover off the frame.
What happens to the cover when I run
at high speeds?
The Bimi-Tee cover system will act like
a shock absorber and dissipate the change in pressure.
When the boat is moving at high speeds on the water, the cover will
tend to take the shape of an air craft wing, ( the pressure
to lift depends on speed ). Assuming the boat and the
top are trimmed, (running level with the water ), and running at
speeds under 30 mph ), the lift effect is minimized or not discernible.
However, at higher speeds you can see the cover respond
to the increase in lift pressure. Check out the photo, Running Fast .
